Overall, probably your best choice; unless you're willing to give up something on the wider-end of the spectrum for more zoom.Lots of people really like the 18-140mm.
At the moment I use a Nikon 16-85mm but I really could do with a little more reach, any ideas please ?
Could NOT agree more. Also, I'll just throw in my thoughts on the wider range zooms, like the 18-300. I have the Nikon 18-300 and would not buy it again. Too soft at most focal lengths. I think that's pretty much true of all the "super-zooms." It's handy, and fine for snap shots, but I just don't use it for any serious photography any more.
If and when I get a walkabout lens of this sort the 18-140mm will be top of my list. I'd consider the 24-120mm f/4 but not an ideal focal length on DX, I think Blacktop found this when using it on the D7100.
One of the problems you may encounter when you go with an all-in-one lens is that you sacrifice quality. The 18-xxxmm lenses may not offer the quality compared with what you already own.
I think that was me. I bought it and used it on my D7100 when I started considering moving to the D750. It is a sweet lens and has great IQ but I did miss the low and high ends. Especially the distance between 18 and 24. Doesn't seem like much but it is
