A New Nikon 300mm f/4 - NR Says Maybe Soon

From Nikon Rumors: "Nikon will soon introduce the long rumored AF-S Nikkor 300 f/4 VR lens with Nano and fluorine coating. The new lens is expected to be very lightweight and will replace the current AF-S model."

I sold my trusty 300/4 earlier this year, but if a new version comes along, with all the modern bells and whistles, I might jump on one.

I have been waiting on this for a while now. Would prefer the 2.8, but thats not going to happen and the f/4 will work fine for what I need it for.

That would be a long awaited improvement except for its price tag.

The Nikon 17-55 mm f2.8 DX lens is also something that could use some improvement.

I wonder what the price will be. I like my venerable 300 f/4 just fine, but the close focus and VR would be nice.

current 300 AF-S f/4 was $ 899 last night on Nikon USA refurb.....

Six years ago, I bought my 300/4, new, for $900. I sold it for the same amount, earlier this year. Six years of use for zero dollars... I'd say my timing on the sale was pretty astute. :)
