Focus problem

HI
Has anyone come across any focusing issues with Nikon 70-200 F4 lens.
Mine seems to all of a sudden started hunting when trying to focus even in good light.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Keith

Welcome to the forum. AF-C is continuous autofocus & will hunt & follow a moving subject. AF-S is generally used for static subjects. Does AF-S hunt also?

I am a bit of a novice when it comes to camera settings

That's no problem at all - it's what we're here for! :)

It can take a few weeks to get to grip with everything, but ask anything you need & someone will help.

A hint: If you have suitable computer software, start shooting in RAW as soon as you can. I wasted a week messing around with JPG & a few nice shots I made could have been a lot better in RAW.

Have to agree with Gorf. Af-c is normally only used for subjects that are moving like Bird in Flight or fast moving sports.

Shooting in RAW is a good idea but just remember that you will have to do post processing and especially sharpening to get good results. Just shooting in RAW and changing over to JPEG to publish will give you sub-par results.

I rarely use AF-C with D3300 as the camera fires, whether the focus is acquired or not. But most of the lenses do hunt if there is very little contrast at the focus point.
