Error

Anyone have this lens? Looking to get into a 17-50mm (ish) 2.8 glass without breaking the bank.

Looks like this is available used under $300. Looking for any actual experience on a DX body

Yes, I have this lens and I think it's very nice. Nice enough that I sold my Nikkor 17-55 2.8 and kept the Tamron.

Found one for $245 shipped on ebay tonight - pulled the trigger :)

B+W 67mm Clear UV filter on the way as well.

Since I read your recommendation on this lens in another thread, I've been thinking about getting one too, when I have some money to that is!
It sure sounds good, even on a video I watched on it for the canon.

I know it won't serve my super wide needs, but it would sure fill the gap left from not having even the 18-55 kit lens.

Unless I can find something like this lens that is FX? I'd really like to go with FX lenses as much as possible. Though I admit I'll likely have two or three DX lenses if it takes very long to get my FX Nikon. The Nikkor af-s 35mm lens, the tokina 11-16mm or Nikkor 10-24mm lens, and something like the tamron 17-50mm. :)

Thanks :)

Still within 12 hours of ownership. The only items I've read about and observed are the zoom creep while carrying (there is a lock button), and it's not as quiet as my other lenses. So far so great :)

Yep. This seemed like the best fit at the time. If there is another, please move :)

* Edit - I now see 'telephoto' is for Nikkor glass. Perhaps this could be moved to 'General Lenses'?
