Well I failed last years 52, I struggled with the list thing :(.
This year I am going to make it easier on myself, 52 different critters from within the boundaries of the 9 acres that I live on Oz, should be easy .

Week #1

Cosmophasis Species. **-see edit info below.

What better way to start than with a Jumping Spider, and a fancy one at that Oz....

Edit :- I have changed the name I gave this one (originally Cosmophasis Micarioides) to Cosmophasis Species, to more closely match this Spider Guide - The Find-a-spider Guide - Cosmophasis species
I don't believe this Spider has been given a proper name yet.
I have used a photo of what I now believe is a Cosmophasis Micarioides for #4.

#2 - "Golden Ant-mimicking Spider"

I am going with another Jumping Spider for this one, normally I would have held out for a better shot, but I have never seen one of these spiders before and maybe not see another, so here it is.
I had trouble getting this spider to play, it kept running away from me, so shots were limited.

These are awesome. Can you post lens? How close where you to subjects?

Cheers Alex.
The lens I am using here is the Nikon macro ( micro ) 55mm f2.8 AF-D.
For the small spiders I am close to minimum focus distance, maybe 1-2 inches from the end of the lens, some of my photos will be cropped also.

Hopefully I can show you plenty more pretty ones throughout the year :)

You already are. The little jumping spiders around here are black and kinda creepy, and the only color I have seen on a spider in this area is the red on a Black Widow. In Louisiana, there were bunches of fluorescent green spiders with orange stripes in the bushes in front of my house. The were cool looking.

I have been a bit slack posting in this thread, I will try to catch up. I will go through my pics for the last couple of weeks and see what I can use here.
