Rob's Project 12 for 2014

Having just finished up my Project 365 for last year, I've decided to take on a Project 12 for this year! Rough, I know, no need to remind me. :highly_amused:

Having shot over ten thousand photos last year, most of which were about learning what different settings would do to the photo, I've decided to slow it down a bit and think a lot before I push that button. I know how it all works now, I just need to put that knowledge into the camera. So I'll be posting the best 12 photos of 2014! (Ok, it'll probably be more than that...)

Earlier this year...

A few minutes ago. Same angle, uncropped, almost same focal length. 5mm difference.

Now we're having fun!

Well, I need some video editing software. The video I took is way too large! haha

Here's some photos to hold me over though.

I gave up on the plowing, it's getting me nowhere as all the snow is back in minutes. The wind just won't stop.

The sheriff has closed all the roads in the county. Plus windchills to -45f. Awesome time. Still have power, so I shouldn't complain. It could get worse.

My wife went to work Sunday when the storm just started, she'll probably be there until Wednesday. She's what they call an "essential employee"

We have a wood burner that can actually heat the whole house, but we'll shut off the upstairs and live downstairs if the power goes out. We have lots of water, and can melt snow if we need more. Pantry full of food. Contingencies to bring the chicken's and their nesting boxes into the dining room, after we clear out the furniture and put a tarp down. It'll be ugly, but at least they won't die. Plus they give us eggs every day!

It's suppose to get down past -24 tonight with windchills around -45. It's already -18 with windchill at -35. We'll be shattering all kinds of records today and tomorrow.

All roads are still closed in the county and they won't open them until after the wind dies down, hopefully tomorrow afternoon. They have actually been giving out tickets and arresting people for driving. One lady has already been found frozen to death in her car that got stuck. That happened about 4 miles down the road.

This is the bridge in my driveway. We're not going anywhere!

Yikes wind with that cold is no fun at all and certainly no point clearing out until it settles. Glad you and yours will be safe and warm

Couldn't get any snow plows on the phone last night, so I woke up and started with my baby plow. Got about 60-70 feet and had to go in before I froze to death. Tried some more snow plow guys and finally found one. He should be here in an hour or so. Hopefully.

The snow plow guy came out!!

...then promptly broke the plow. He had to go do some welding, then he'll be back. Hopefully. Got enough cleared that I can get the 4X4 out though.

Waiting for him to get back, I found this doorknob. This is on the inside of the house, just to be clear. It's very very cold out right now. I'm gonna go look at some more doorknobs. Maybe I need a dehumidifier!

We're finally plowed out! Just to learn we're all going to die of pneumonia. It's supposed to be rainy and 40 degrees on Saturday...

Have you ever wondered what the end result of some industrial espionage that went horribly wrong looks like?

Wonder no more.

Here's a closer look.

Lucky for me, it's only going to cost me $8.91 to replace 9 of them. However, in the meantime, I only have one monitor on my computer and it's driving me crazy!!

Ok. Since I'm obviously going to spend every waking moment of January plowing my driveway, I'm going to call this Photo #1 of my Project 12. :p

20140125-_1RB2032_3_4.jpg

I seriously need a bigger tractor. I just spent 2.5 hours plowing about 75 feet worth of snow drifts.

Oh, and this isn't what I wanted to do for January, but it'll do. LOL

Same boat down here in my area. The wind is rattling the windows not as cold as you up north though. I think I am right around 4*F

Industrial espionage update. The replacement caps arrived today!

I haven't seen such high quality capacitors since that $250,000 radar receiver circuit board.

That I blew up! Ummmm... Twice.

Ok, it wasn't actually my fault they blew up, but since I was in charge of the weapon, it was my fault they blew up. You know how that is...

2004 Insufficient Electrolyte Constituents in Failed Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors found to be the cause.
2005 Billions of dollars being spent industry wide to repair/replace circuit boards in malfunctioning equipment.
2005 My monitor's power supply was manufactured.
2006 My monitor was manufactured.
2007 I purchased my monitor.
2010 Last major surge of complaints of failed capacitors.
2014 Found my monitor DOA
2014 Investigation reveals nine bad capacitors in monitor's power supply
