Vixens Jewellery

I started making jewellery about 12months ago. It's an expensive hobby and I've been pretty slow with getting some stuff to stick in my brain, but lately I've been getting a bit more adventurous ( and spending a heap more money). You'd think having photography as my other hobby would be an advantage, but I struggle with photographing the stuff I make as well.

Anyway.........a couple of things I've made

Nice stuff Vixen, well done. Do you sell your jewellery ?

If you have Cpl filter, give that a try. I found it improved my pen photography.

Not to fit this lens I don't think Brad. I do all my shots handheld. I know I should use the tripod but it such a pain setting up for EVERY shot. That means I have to use 60+ secs shutter or they'll all be out of focus. I'll look into your suggestion tho and give it a try if I have an adaptor I can use with my 77mm CPL.

I do sell it. I don't sell much but have sold a few things and that gives me funds to buy more tools and supplies. Still waaaaay behind in that respect tho. Too easy to blow $500 on a few bits of silver and a couple of tools

Yeah, I know the feeling well. Pens can be expensive too, it's easy to go overboard when ordering bits.
The cpl will cut down on reflected light on your metal pieces. IMHO would be definitely worth a try, you will need to get that tripod out though.

Get a tripod. For this sort of thing a small tripod would be fine.

How are you lighting these up. It's all about the lighting.

Google up "photography light box" many DIY versions and you can buy cheap off of eBay if you don't want to bother making one. The advantage of buying one is you can get the pop-up variety that fold flat and just "pop up" when you need it.

Building one of these is on my "when I get around to it" project list.

AND - I'm only offering these suggestions because you asked - your images as posted have an 'artsy' look that is appealing already. But you were looking for suggestions eh?

Yep!! Got myself one of those little light boxes (with lighting on 3 sides). I also like to try and get out in natural light if I can...not so easy to get out of the sun sometimes though.
