Introduction and Guidelines for Nikonites 52 photos in 2015

Introduction
First and foremost, this is a fun project. It shouldn't be stressful. It is aimed at stretching the imagination, and ultimately improving our images in some way. All themes can and should be stretched to the max to provide interesting and varied images of each theme.

General Guidelines

Keeping with the purpose and this being a Nikon place, the primary camera(s) used should be Nikon. Sometimes though, the right camera for the shot may be something else. That’s OK for a minimal number of photos.

We have provided a Nikonites list. It is up to the member if they want to used this list or create their own.

The themes can be tackled in any order.

As the year wears on fewer themes are available and therefore themes become more difficult to creatively fill. If a member is struggling to find photo opportunities, members are allowed to substitute up to 5 themes once the challenge is underway. Substitutions need to be named accordingly (example “week 49 - black (substitution) ).

Members should create their own thread in this forum and title it using the term “52 in 2015”, e.g. “Tracey’s Awesome 52 in 2015”. The first post should be made before January 1, 2015, and include your theme list and any own personal guidelines you want to add (see sample below). The personal guidelines may be added to make it more challenging, less challenging or help you work on skills you would like to work on in 2015.

  • Describe the list. (e.g.. “I’m using the Nikonites 52 List” or “Nikonites 52 with 9 changed themes” or “The Eyelight 52”)
  • Add your own personal Guidelines like:
    • 1 theme per week.
    • Post themes in order of the list.
    • No substitutes after Jan 1.
    • No restrictions other than 52 posted photos on each theme by Dec 31.
    • Zoomed with my feet (All taken with the 50mm lens)
    • All flash photos (something you might do if you want to work on your flash lighting skills).

Photos should be taken and published weekly preferably, however this is not always possible. Please state in your guidelines if you are doing a “strict” - one a week, every week or will be aiming for the 52 to be complete by the end of the year.

The challenge officially starts on Jan 1st 2015

Any questions, please ask, oh and happy shooting :)

Themes to follow in the next post.

I hate you already!!!!!

"The first post should be made before January 1, 2015" Is this right or should it read the first should NOT be made before ... ?

Or have I got it wrong and the first post should be made before then but the first photo only posted after?

Confused 8 weeks before we even start!

The first post will be your description, if you add any personal goals/guidelines and your list and should be posted before Jan 1. The first photo post would be after Jan 1.

Just a question: 50m on DX or FX?

This line is in the example personal guidelines that a person can add to make their 52 more of a challenge. So, you might want to do all with one lens, but could be any lens. So, this is not a requirement for everyone, but just something you could add if desired.

An example first post could be something like this:

Eyelight's 52 for 2015 <<< this my thread title

I'm planning to use the Nikonite's 52 and do one photo per week in order of the list and use flash for every shot.

(Just imagine the 52 list added here)

The description could also be written as a short list like:

  • Use Nikonite's 52
  • Use my 10.5mm Fisheye for every photo
  • Shoot 1 theme per week
  • Do list in any order

or could be simple as:

I plan to shoot the 52 themes by December 31. <<<< This would be participating with the least restrictive guidelines.
