A great idea to post a photo every day and keep the learning process going. I'll start today with a simple snapshot of my heart..Moochie, an award winning Persian showcat I rescued from that life and is now the king of the castle. I love animals and he is quite the character.

It does work. It's hard tho if you try to mix up your subjects a bit and try new stuff. But it's worth the effort :D

Today's photo is a shot of the pier at Old Orchard Beach. As a musician I played there many times so I thought I'd just take a couple for posterity. It was taken with the D800 and my 70-300VR hand held. Although I'm not crazy about the composition, I did like the colors. In my mind a 2 out of 5.

@Sonicbuffalo: "to post a photo every day" or "every day to post the photo TAKEN on that day"...
Anyway, these (two) are very interesting photos.

I'm just wondering....is that snow in the yard of the guy across the street from you? I thought it would be gone by now!
It is snow, I took that picture about 4 weeks ago and up here snow in April is almost routine. I didn't realize that we're supposed to use shots from the actual day. Sorry, I will abide by the rules from now on....grin. Actually it really makes sense and I should have realized. Thanks Chris..No offense taken.

Today's photo comes on the day I got the D7100 and the 24-70 2.8. So I took advantage of the 1st sunny day in a while and took out the new gear. It's my first time using that lens and I want to make sure it focuses properly. I know using it on a DX format camera is a little weird but does it look sharp enough for this amazing lens? I really don't have the experience to evaluate properly.

Well I decided to make my very 1st attempt at a still life today. I used only the ambient light with my D7100 and the 105 2.8. I really could use some advice on what kind of light I'd need for future shots. Thanks!

Here's the next day with the same scenario. Trying to experiment with lighting and shadows

Lighthouse Sunrise..This is done with my new 24-70. I am still being paranoid over whether the lens is properly sharp. I know all the intangibles involved, but at first sight do any of you more experienced eyes see any problem with the lens? Thanks for your patience all.
BTW..this was shot with a D7100..My D800 is out on loan..at 27mm..f5.6....1/400...iso..100..manual focus.

Nice shot.
I'm just down the road apiece in Perkins Cove on vacation. I've taken nearly 500 shots since Saturday, brought the wrong laptop with no editing software, and spotty internet service. But the weather has been great!
