Nikkor ais lenses on D600?

Hi, I'am new to Nikon and just purchased a new D600,I know you can use them,but do you need to use stopped down metering with them? Thanks very much.

No, they will work wide open for metering as long as you use the matrix metering. You only have to enter the lens details in the custom non-CPU lens data menu. Then you have to use the aperture ring to select your aperture but the diaphragm will close only for the exposure. So you can focus wide open and frame the same way.

It works fine with these lenses. My cat picture for the weekly challenge thread was taken with a non-CPU lens (55 1.2).
