just received my 24mm 1.4 problem is it appears it does not fit i set fstop to 22 like instructions say and still nothing the dots on the camera and lens are lined up still not working, Should this lens fall in place like my kit lens, the kit lens mounts with no effort, it just dropsin, the new Rokinon does not, have placed the lens on the camera body and rotated it 360 degrees several times and it still does not mount, is there a chance I am doing something wrong?

Setting the aperture to f/22 has nothing to do with mounting the lens. It should mount like any other lens.... the 'top' of the lens should line up with the dot on the body, then turn into place.

It may be tighter simply due to it being new.

Are you certain that it's the Nikon mount? Sometimes, things get mixed up and the wrong lens could have been sent to you. Who did you buy it from?

how tight is tight? because I have pushed but something doesn't feel right, its just not lining up, I shouldn't have to push so hard afraid of damaging either the camera or the lens. the kit lens just drops in easily with no effort so I know how they line up but its just not working. Feeling frustrated I leave for Germany in a week.

You could put the lens side by side with a Nikon lens and look for a difference in between them,

If not, contact the person you got it from and see what they say.

I knew I wasn't nuts, They shipped me a lens for a Pentax although the box says Nikon. My Guess is Rokinon just discovered they may have hundreds of at lenses at resellers that have been packaged wrong, whoops.

I'd say they owe you a free lens for tipping them off...............

Is there a local camera store you can work with?

carguy, I just called my local dealers and neither of them carry Rokinon and the Nikon they do have is $800.00 little to much to spend just before I leave for Germany. Yesterday the re seller was checking their stock to see if all of them were packaged the same way and they never called back with an update, now their closed until Monday I mean Tuesday, I am sure they are all closed Monday for the July 4th holiday, great!, this whole trip was planned with this lens and an opportunity to photograph the Miky way rising above the alps, if someone doesn't start caring about their customer, weeks of planning and reading etc, etc. is out the window, not a happy man right now.

I did not see what camera and lenses you have now but I shot the Milky Way this week with my 24-120 and was very happy with the results. Yes a prime would have been better but the 14mm Rokinon I had was just to wide and the 50mm for you long 24MM was just right for full frame.

here is what I got. Remember that this is near several towns so a lot of light to deal with
