Spent some time yesterday with my Nikon AF-S DX Micro 40mm f/2.8G. Wow! This is a nice lenses. I found there is a slight drawback with how close you need to get for macro. But for flowers, coins, watches, etc it is great. Things that may get offended by a camera a inch or two from them will remain to be seen. This may prompt me to get the 105mm micro later. Here are a few from my shoot. The detail is pretty good IMHO.
