Tokina 100mm f2.8 Macro ATX M100 Pro D

I received my refurbished Tokina today.

It was packaged very well and the lens looks absolutely brand new.

The warranty is 90 days (just in case).

The lens has a "professional" feel about it; much like Nikon's Pro lenses.

This is the very first photo from this lens.



Since it's raining outside, I used Bill's treats bottle for the test shot.


This is a 100% crop.


I'm pleased.

Tokina makes some good lenses and it looks as if you have also snagged yourself a tasty lunch

I was surprised as to how well that label worked as a test pattern.

I found it on eBay. It was sold to me by Tokina\Kenko in California. It's the same place I sent my 12-24 after I rolled it down a small mountain. I will always buy a refurb over new whenever I can. This 100mm Pro was $289. I believe it was a bargain. Depending on which review you read, it's as good as, or better than the Nikon 105mm.

What's with that shutter speed? btw, I paid $489 for mine new back in 2011. Great little lens.

That's quite a number. I hadn't noticed. I don't know why it's displayed like that. But now it appears to be displaying correctly.

I'm just posting these photos in case someone else may be interested in this lens.

The first two sets were shot at a distance of approximately 3 feet. The last set was about 8 feet.

In my collection of lenses, I was only lacking a macro lens. I used to have a Nikon 60/2.8 and it was a very good lens. I can't remember why I got rid of it. In any case, I needed to replace it. (You folks understand "needed", right? I'm glad I "discovered" the Tokina and I'm impressed with its performance. I can't wait to use it in good 'ol sunlight.

From photog friends of mine, they highly recommended the Tokina... Definitely a nice lens from the images I have seen from them. Good luck with it.

I'm posting these two just so you can see the Tokina 100 as a short telephoto. I doubt that I'll ever use it for that purpose, but it's nice to know it works. The more I use this lens, the more I'm impressed.
