Just curious... can anyone summarize... What feature/process does this software do better than any other of the leading editing programs do? IOW, Is there a single feature that makes this software a MUST have ??????

Interesting that it is a special offer for 500px users. Oh, but wait, you can enter your email and generate your own key.

Would be good to hear from some who use it. Anyone???

I use PE 8, and just downloaded 9.
It's good for adding preset filters and effects. And there are a ton of filters and effects in there. It also works in tandem with Elements 11 or PS, so I can easily go back and forth between the 2.

Is it a must have? No. But it sure makes adding filters quite easy. Every time they come up with a new version the previous is free.
It is a memory hog, though.

I've been using it for nearly a year, and I'm not disappointed. So give it a try. (hey, it's free!)
If you don't like it, you can just delete it.

I'm using 9 but even when it's a "full" program, it's packed with gimmicks instead of useful stuff.

I only use the borders, the rest I wouldn't know what to do with.

Content:

Adjustable gradient
Adjustment brush
Black and white presets
Borders
Glow presets
HDR look
Texturizer
Vignette
Vintage

It's free so it can be useful and it works independent of other soft which is handy at times. It's what it is called: effects.

Effects is one module of the whole suite they have, it's really nice software and they have videos for each module. Worth a watch and you can't beat the price for the one module. I originally heard about it because of the resize module. It works with Lightroom as well and I mainly use it for black and white.

I wouldnt say any part of it is a gimmick, it's really nice software and great support. It's another option for those don't want to use photoshop.

I have used 8 before and its a good program and just installed 9 and it also seems good. It works from inside Photoshop to but there is no preview from inside photoshop as to what the applied filter looks like. You have to open Perfect Effects (double click) to see thumbnails and see the affects of applying the filter

There's nothing wrong with the program and if there's only one thing in it you like, it is worth getting it since it is free.

To me it's a bit like some filters in PS/GIMP or presets in LR. If you use those, you will like PP9 but if you don't use them, you'll likely not use much in PP9 either.

Since it's free, it only costs some minutes of download to check it out, and enough onOne messages in your mailbox. If you have one, use a spam-box to register it.

That about sums it up I reckon..... :D

I did download 9 and playing with it. Haven't got the interaction with LR and PSE figured yet.

In LR you have to set the program as an external and define the export format. When you then click export to (or edit?), it saves to that format and opens PE9.

I downloaded it, too, and it works pretty good. Worth the couple of minutes to download and install. It's the full program, and ya can't beat free! :) Then I went to their site and unsubscribed from any future mailings they might want to send me! :)

Uhh, I just clicked on the plug-in and it transferred the current image to PE9. Then when I hit the apply button in PE9 it saved a new PSD file and closed PE9. This way though the image would have to be opened in PS to then save the adjusted file as a JPEG or other than PSD.

I like some of what it does, but not sure I like the clicking and effort, but I'm still in the review mode.

I did find the going back and forth in LR annoying and also the fact that I didn't see the same quality preview in PE as in LR. It was a lower quality version which at times made it hard to exactly see what you were doing. But that was in PE8 when I first got it and used some effects to play with. PE9 I now use as a standalone to load my finished shot, click favorites where my border is, apply and save. For that it's fast and handy.

I've tried both the PE8 and PE9 and in both instances had a lot of "time-outs" where my computer simply froze or the OnOne software shutdown.

While O like the presets i don't like the hassles.

I have so much to learn, and improve on, in LR and PS I think I will concentrate on those. Once I am an expert there then maybe I can start looking at other programs.

But thanks for posting - I do like that everyone shares when they come across new stuff, especially when it is free!

OK. Figured out I can change the output file when the input comes from LR, but then I still have to export from LR to downsize.
