nikon mount

I have a microscope adapter which fit my previously owned d800 "mount". I need to get another nikon camera, probably used, which uses the same "mount" as the d800, to attach to my microscope adapter. It needs to be a dslr and would prefer something smaller than my prior d800, if available. Most important is that it must have the same mount, i.e., take the same size lenses as did the d800. Any suggestions?

Nikon has used the same basic "F" mount since, I think, 1959 so you have a lot of bodies choose from. What specific body I would suggest would depend on what your specific needs are. If your only real requirement is that the body be smaller than the D800 and have the same lens mount I can suggest the D750. If you want to spend less money/get something used I'm sure you could find a great deal on say a D610 or D700.

I would stick with the D610 to D750 series. Maybe not the D700 since I am guessing you may want to get as many pixels as you can on your small or close subject.

One great thing about Nikon is that they have used the same mount for the entire time that they have been making SLRs, from the original F in 1959, all the way up through the latest current DSLRs.

If you have a microscope adapter that fits a D800, then it will fit any SLR or DSLR that Nikon has ever made.

A basic crop body like D3300/D3200 would be ideal, as these are very light and you do not need the extra features of the more expensive bodies.
