Must haves

Ok gang, I have been posting various questions about my upcoming trip to Costa Rica and you all have been great in your responses. I am creating a checklist of what essentials and nice to haves regarding photo gear/support gear I should bring. I would welcome your suggestions and especially from those that have been to a similar place. My signature shows my core pieces. What else?

Thanks

Extra batteries, extra sd cards, rocket blower, lens wipes, and such .

not sure I would even carry the Nikon 55-200mm. The 70-300 is so much better. one less thing to bother with

Right. I would pick up a 50mm 1.8-D lens as well if I were the OP. Small light and great IQ.

If I were going there with a D7100, and wanted to travel as light as possible, this would be my gear list.
D7100.
18-140mm for to cover landscapes and walkaround stuff
50mm 1.8 for low light and other 50mm stuff
70-300mm for the exotic bird shots.

I was just picking from what he already had.

I would limit my selection of lens to the 18-55 and 70-300 too. Just one less thing to carry. I assume you have a good bag and a good strap but if not I would look hard at getting both. I would also recomend a sling strap of some kind. I like not having the camera leading the way. I prefer it at my side. I use Peak Design Slide Strap, there are as many choices as opinions.
