Grey Imports for Secondary battery

Is there any potential draw backs buying a secondary battery EN-EL15 for my D750 via grey imports to save around $40-70.

I wouldn't probably use grey imports for bodies and lenses however I know many who do with no issues. This particular retailer is Australian owned and offers 12 months warranty by law, so having to send a battery back isn't a huge hassle as compared to a body.

I am refering to Kogan, I am sure many have heard or bought from them before.

I use both Nikon batteries and some other type. I notice no difference between both besides the other being cheaper.

I'd have to check to see which cheaper brand I'm using but I've been using them since months in the D750 and now too in the D810.

I've used Wasabi batteries in a few Nikon bodies over several yeas and they work exactly like Nikon OEM batteries. I've seen other third party batteries that don't; it just depends on the battery. If returns aren't a big hassle I don't see any reason not to try the cheaper knock off. Then at least you'll know for sure.

New EN-EL15 batteries are only $47 (US) from Nikon, how much are they in AUS? The site you posted states $59, is that in AU dollars?

I'm wondering how a gray market battery could be $40-70 cheaper?

The link in the website appears to show a Nikon OEM battery for AU$59, while the sidebar shows a "knock off" battery for AU$20. I don't think there is such a thing as "grey market" batteries, I think there are OEM batteries and third-party knock-offs (some of which are better than others).

Of course, I could be wrong...

I'm thinking the same thing.

IMO - why buy a $2400 camera and take a risk to save $30 on a battery?

If you bought the camera new, I'd assume the battery included was OEM as well. If it was used/refurb, not sure.

The link you provided above appears to be a Nikon OEM battery for $59 AU, here in the US that same battery is only $47 US.

Yeah bought her brand spanking new haha. I saw that it's $47 dollars which is awesome, you guys are also lucky with SD cards they are really expensive here also.

I figured if its the same as the one supplied from the box and I can save $40 why not, that's a cleaning kit right there.

However a friend just showed me a link for $77 dollars locally which I may just do. I know a lot of variables are involved in prices differences however its just amazing to see price comparisons.

edit just want to add, ebay has a tech sale for us atm and we save a further 20% off using the stores ebay store which makes it a tempting proposition to consider
