Nef

Hello. This is prob a dumb question but what question is dumb. Well. I have been shooting for almost 2 years now or so. I shoot in rAw. And for some reason I'm just now noticing my photos are nef? I believe they used to say raw. I haven't changed no settings. The only thing I have done was added a bigger memory card. Any help with this getting my extension back to .raw thank you!

Nikon's RAW format is NEF. As far as I know it has been this way for a long time

That's what I'm seeing when I research it. But I just thought it used to come up raw. Hmm

NEF is Nikons file extension for RAW files. The menu is my camera (D5300) states NEF (RAW) in that format. Maybe that is where you saw RAW.

The d5100 says raw. But nef comes up. Nikon electronic format. If it's not a big deal I won't worry about it. And thank you @cwgrizz

The camera monitor will say RAW, but the filename extension is .NEF. Perfectly normal.
