keeping old photos

Hey all

Just curious how long everyone keeps their old photos? I was thinking a year then get rid of them. Also do you just keep the edited ones or the entire shoot? Trying to figure out the norm.

I come back from a shoot and download to the PC,go through them and delete what i dont want,PP the ones for posting. Then the raw files are filed in my system, the converted jpegs are stored in monthly/yearly folders, both sets of images are then backed up to a external hard drive, when it comes time to remove them from my computer to make space i back them up again to another ext HD.
They are never fully deleted when they are not on my computer any more they are on two ext HDs,storage space is fairly cheap now so i see no point in ever deleting them completely, besides its fun to look back sometimes.

I would say ALL ones that had anything to do with work and people, because you never know when that RAW with your copyright info can come in handy. Random/for pure fun shots, depends on space you're willing to allocate really.

I sort and toss the culls right after shooting, then keep the good shots forever. I have my negatives from all my film shooting days as well. No reason not to, is there? :)
