I posted this image in the oil thread, obviously i liked it at the time or i wouldn't have posted it,since posting it i have had a niggle in the back of my mind, something about it i wasn't 100% happy with.

Giving it more thought i came to the conclusion it was the wrong way round,i flipped and like it much more,am i right and if so why.

The only thing i can think of is i am left eye dominant so with the second one i feel ime looking more into the picture, rather than being pushed out of it.

I like them both...however, I am sitting at my computer facing North, and my brain keeps telliing me this is a Morning shot, and thus the original image seems more natural, with the Sun coming up in the East. lol

My wife's computer faces South, so.......

The second one for me. I don't know why, but my eye follows it more naturally. (Maybe you are onto something. I am left eye dominant also. Ha!) Oh and I am right handed. :beguiled:

I actually like the first one better. Now for the reason. I am right handed so my camera hangs on my right side. So walking across this bridge I would want to be to the right of the railing and birds so I could get the shot.

That is interesting, Never thought of directions.

To me that one is better to my eyes.

I like the first shot better but either way the composition should have been different. The birds are too close to the edge of the screen. I know you know this , but I'm going to say it anyway in case it helps someone.
If your subject is looking, flying or facing to the left, then the subject should be close to the right side of the frame, and vica versa.

I like the second more. I think it has something to do with the direction of the seagulls and the way my eye goes over the pic searching for a resting point.

I like the second one better too... I had never considered the left eye dominant reasoning. That may be my reasoning as well.

Just came across this thread although it's been up for a while.

I prefer the first one. Why? I guess because here in the US we read from left to right so the inclination of seeing the first one where my eye comes in from the left side of the frame and follows the line of the bridge to the right side feels more natural.
