Hey everyone! This is my first time posting here and some feedback would help me get back into photography again.

Nice shot. I'm thinking crop it a bit, moving inchy to the right and down. Perhaps adjust toward deepening the colors slightly.

Welcome. I'd agree with a bit tighter crop and setting the subject off center towards the lower right side a bit. Depends on your editing software, but I'd deepen the colors and darken the background a bit as well.

I was bored, so thought I would fiddle a little. Lightroom Adjustments shown in the screenclip. Would look better if adjusted from the original file.

I like your start and I like Eyelights finish (crop). To avoid that snapshot look try to keep your point of interest from being smack in the middle. Points of interest on the thirds. If you're not familiar, google "rule of thirds".

Great start. Keep it up.

Wow, I'm really blown away by this feedback. I definitely like this place. Thank you Eyelight for the crop suggestion, I like the way it's more intensively focused on the caterpillar.
@RocketCowboy, no, it's not really my primary field of interest in photography, but I do like it when I find a deserving subject.

@MoabMan, I normally either follow rule-of-thirds when shooting or cropping, but often I get carried away with either bending low to get a shot (I'm tall) or with processing the colours and I just forget. So reminders are good :p

Thanks everyone!

I did a bit of an edit after the feedback, except I made my crop go down rather than up, to give a sense of the space below the caterpillar if it were to fall. Shame. I also didn't darken the colours too much, but I did make it look less washed out. Here it is:

I like your crop thought. It does foster the impression of the little guy taking a chance.

Good thing about the original is you have room to move the subject around in the frame. If in doubt about the framing, wide is always better than narrow.

I noticed from EXIF that you shot at a very fast 1/2000 sec with ISO @ 800. You might have been able to lower the ISO a bit by lowering the shutter speed.
