I see you're hooked, Bill! LOL What software did you use for this?

The detail in the barn is fantastic. I do think that it might benefit from a little more warmth or vibrance in the sky and grass, that might also bring out some of the warm tones in the barn wood --maybe a little more punch so that the barn really pops (I love old barns!)

Nice shot. Where is this place? Lincoln area?

The barn is in the Homestead area off Gavilan Road here in Ruidoso. I bought HDR pro 2, and I'm still getting used to it, lots of knobs to fiddle with.

I agree with Helene here. One of the aspects I like of HDR is the dramatic skies. The "blue" looks a little off to me. If you use LR, you could apply a light Graduated Filter effect to the sky which I think would work. Excellent image!!

One other thought, have you thought about going a little wider with this shot? Showing the barn sitting alone in the middle of the beautiful wilderness might work, too.

Bill, excellent shot. I like the colors and detail of the barn and grass. As Eduard says the sky color is a little off, needs to be more blue. And I also agree there needs to be more room around the barn, especially on the left. Also there is too much grass, empty space, in the bottom third. Another thought is to shoot at a lower angle to give the barn more of a dominating look. But having said all that it's a good shot as it is.

Great shot Bill and really good HDR, but "an old barn?"

When you get to UK next let me show you a barn from 1472!! (LoL)

OK Bill here is an example of a 14th Century Tithe Barn built on a Norman base (11th Century), it was converted for use as a local prison for a while in 18th Century but is now used as a hall for the village and still has the original dirt floor. I have included a couple of shots of other buildings to give you an idea of the village it is in. It is Laycock where Fox Talbot lived and where he took his famous photograph of the window.

Best wishes to all

Naja, nice. We don't have anything like that in Atlanta. Some damn yankee general rode through and burned everything down a while back. So all we have now is concrete and blacktop.

Naja, did you know that the Naja is a genus of venomous elapid snakes, a hooded cobra!!! Very deadly!!

We are very lucky to have the history that we do. A lot of the old barns still exist, but have been turned into very expensive homes. It preserves the outer structure and usually the great roof timbers, but it means that it is no longer available for everybody to enjoy, which is a shame in a way. Still we do still have quite a few around, and many still in use as a barn too. In many respects our history is also US history as many of the original founders came from UK.

I never knew my initials were a genus of snake. You learn something everyday from this site, even at my age!!!!!!!

With a Canon you can, but with a Nikon you WILL!!

Nice photos, Naja! I guess in those days they built everything to last and to withstand invasions. I and my horses would certainly be happy to have a "barn" like that!

Best Regards
