I love this photo and realize how dark it is. I recently downlaoded NX-D for Raw images and want to play around. Here is an enahnced PP version from another program.

There is a good deal of usable information in the image, but you don't allow editing, so I am can't post any possible variations.

I briefly edited a screenshot of it as I also was unable to download a decent version, however I didnt get far as once Id altered the brightness levels I couldnt find much I was interested in.
The red sun through the tree is mildly interesting but the mass of foliage in the middle and the lack of anything interesting in the foreground is offputting, sorry I cant be more positive about it

I don't think editing can improve this picture. There is probably enough information in the dark parts of the image, but if you brighten the foreground, you will only see a busy, distracting hedge. Composition doesn't work very much, because there is nothing to draw the eye in the picture. Try finding a stronger composition, perhaps with more sky, possibly framed by trees and some distinct subject in the foreground. A reflection from water or some bright surface works well in sunsets.

If in doubt, try following the rule I learned from Ken Rockwell. "If your image doesn't jump out as a thumbnail, you've made a boring image." Try again and look for a striking thumbnail.

He has requested NO EDITING so please respect this and do not download or get a screenshot and edit it.

That's what a critique is for, lol!

The image doesn't do it for me - sorry.
I suspect the highlight is the sun but this is dwarfed by foliage which is bleh!
Don Kuykendall when I first joined Nikonites and saw the "Editing" box I said "No" because I thought the questions was "Do I use editing?" and at the time I didn't. I shot RAW and Jpeg and posted the Jpegs. It took about 4 months for me to realise that it meant "can others edit my pictures"

Maybe the question can be rephrased for people like me - as it seems like the OP has no objection (as I would not have had) to others editing and helping.

Still there are many people here that do have a problem with others editing their photos. I am one of those. Everyone just needs to respect the wishes of the poster. IF in doubt you can always ask if they mind.

This photo has a sense of mood and personal place, even to me, I know back yards like this , and I know the 'feel', I'm not surprised you are fond of it.
It doesn't however have the general public type of appeal, because the presentation isn't of that type.
Id leave it as it is,though, and consider it a 'personal pic'.

Your right on there, lol! It's definitely not a typical photo, and it's not bright enough to show colors or textures. I could have focused on the uniqueness of the round metal roof and brightened up the image. I have much better photo's, but wanted to get a feel for comments on how to enhance the image. I'll be posting some better pics for critique soon.

Thanks for your kind comment ;)
