National Geographic/Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest 2011

    Check it out.

You can enter up to 6 different photos in 6 categories, and the prizes are outstanding. Better bring your A-game though, Nat Geo is the creme de la creme of photography. This could be your opportunity to hit the big time!

    Hold your horses here...

Before you go entering any contest, please read the RULES carefully.

    http://images.nationalgeographic.com...1305142563.pdf

By entering a National Geographic contest of which the majority of "us" have no hope in hades of winning, understand well that you are giving them your image for ever. They can use it any way they please in perpetuity. So, when you bring your A-game, you effectively give it to them free.

They are also not responsible for any legal implications that may arise due to them plastering your A-Game photo all over the world, if for some reason, you are sued.

The latest issue of Outdoor Photography Canada magazine has an excellent article on Photo Contests and how they are mostly a Rights Grab. You should read the article, if you have access to the magazine, it is an excellent and eye opening read.

If you enter a contest, please read the rules carefully and UNDERSTAND THEM and the implications before you go giving away your best photos for free!

Read this, it is right out of the "rules" for this contest:

"By entering a photo in this Contest, Entrant grants a nonexclusive, transferable, royalty-free, worldwide license to Sponsor and Energizer to edit, adapt and publish such photo in connection with the Contest and promotion of the Contest, and Sponsor may use the photo in connection with the Contest and promotion of the Contest for advertising, marketing and promotional purposes in commerce and in any and all media now known or hereafter known throughout the world in perpetuity, without attribution, compensation, permission or further notification to the entrant, his/her successors or assigns, or any other entity, unless prohibited by law."

Just so you have a heads up.....
