Light Bulb - How to Pick the right one

I’m an a**ho**
I bought in USA a Limostudio Kit like this:

Amazon.com : LimoStudio 6 x9 ft White / Black / Green Chromakey Fabricated Backdrop Muslin Background Screen Umbrella Lighting Kit for Photo Video Photography Studio, CLR-PL13WBG : Camera & Photo

That use 3 x 85W Digital Full Spectrum CFL Light Bulb like this:
https://db.tt/6lIHF665

I check on the socket and it was for 110V to 250v and I assumed that the light bulb could work at 220V as well. I plug it and after few minutes, bye bye light bulb. Of course it was for 120V.

Well, now I’m checking for replacement.

The description of thelight bulbs is the following:

- Color Temperature: 6500K
- Watts: 85W
- Equals to 350W Regular Incandescent Light Bulb Output
- Long Life: 8,000 hrs

I search info to understand what this “full spectrum” is, but it looks like that is a “marketing definition”.

In Argentina I found this:
Lampara Bajo Consumo 85w E40 8000 Hs - $ 337,00 en MercadoLibre

It just says that is 85W / 8000 hrs and has cold or warm light…

I would say that is the same.
What do you think?

Anyway, considering that I have to replace one, do you suggest me to buy other kind of light bulb?
Thank you!!!

The 6500K is one thing you have to look out for. That is the color temperature of the light. It is daylight equivalent. The one you mentions says "cold or warm light" is not the same. Find a replacement that is either 6500K or states that it is Daylight. Actually daylight can be anywhere between 5000°K and 6500°K (pronounced 6500 Degrees Kelvin)

I guess what you have to be concerned with is if it is compatible with your light fixture and the power systems in your country. That I can not answer for you.

Thank you!!! Unfortunately I have to find a replacement here in Argentina because I'll be back in USA in few months...

But I'm pretty sure that LimoStudio just use unbranded regular CFL light bulbs (It couldn´t be different, selling all that stuff for 140USD)...Searching a bit more I found it!

Lampara Bajo Consumo Bc 105w Sylvania 6500k Tata Grow Olivos - $ 550,00 en MercadoLibre

The brand is Sylviania (that is Osram). 6500K and it is 105V

anyway the socket could handle it:

High Quality Studio E27 AC Socket Light Stand Mount Umbrella Holder
Max power can be used 105W energy saving bulb
Lamp base E26/E27 x1
Code & Plug included (9 ft.)

The one you linked looks to be 220v-240v (volts). It is a 105w instead of an 85w like your original bulb. I don't think this is the same thing--I think you are mixing up your 'w' and 'v'. Please take another look and zoom in on the voltage shown in the photo!

Hi! It was a keyboard mistake... I ment 105W...

I think that is OK... In Argentina we use 220V.
I'll plug the 220V light bulb (that I'll buy here) and socket directly to 220V net and I'll use a voltage converter to go down from 220 to 120V for the other two light bulbs still surviving (fortunately my parents have one!!!)

My set come with 3x85W. If I use 2x85+1x105W I'll have "more light"/brighter light. For what I have red that shouldn´t be a problem.
The color temperature is the same: 6500K.

Anyway I'll still search an 85W tu replicate the same set and experiment with that.

I'd like to tell you how the story end.
the seller confirm me that with cold light they ment "6400K".
So it was 85W, 6400K and 220V.

Compared to my others 85 is not that bright but it has the same color. Maybe it is not really 85W. Anyway it works and I'll give it a use.
