It seems like a roundabout, and expensive way to do it, but if you really need an exposure to go take the millisecond that you tell it to you need something like this.
Here's an example of how it could be setup with an insect rig:
which goes for $2,349 ::what:it looks like you're ready to incinerate the bug, but those are just laser sensors)

One issue I'm running into is actually triggering the flash which is looks like this gets around. The sync speed is only 1/250 which causes even more delay in the shutter. The MIOPS does have a flash pc sync out, so maybe I'll play with that a bit, but I do need an adapter for my sb-700.
