I noticed a recall on the Nikon site when I was looking for other information. Just passing it along as I don't have the battery. Ha

http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Service-...-Rechargeable-Li-ion-Battery-Pack-Recall.html

Here is an excerpt:

Nikon Inc. is asking your cooperation in connection with a voluntary recall of certain lot numbers of its Nikon Model EN-EL15 rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack. The battery pack can experience a short circuit causing it to overheat and possibly causing the outside casing to become deformed, posing a potential hazard to consumers. There have only been seven (7) confirmed reports of incidents of the problem worldwide, and while no injuries have taken place, Nikon Inc. has initiated this recall of the affected lot numbers as a reflection of its commitment to safety and product quality. We are asking that owners of the affected battery pack contact Nikon Inc. to initiate a free product exchange.

Not a bad idea to remind folks but the recall originally occurred around April of 2012.

Ha! Oh well, it popped up on the Nikon Site as an important notice, so I just grabbed it and ran. I guess it wasn't so "important" after all. Ha!

Thanks Eduard for adding the details of the Nikon urgency. :congratulatory:

Going back and reading it, they say they are still being sold retail today, so I guess it really wouldn't hurt to check to see if you have any. I didn't see a date on the notice only the fact that they were first distributed in 2012. Safe or sorry, you have been notified. :sneakiness:
