I've been toying with the idea of selling products directly to members here for a while. The issue is there's so many it's hard to decide where to start :)

So like an outlet for companies to sell somewhat directly to us or how would this possibly see the light of day?

Whatever accessory that has the highest margin for you, lol. I like the strap idea and even if it would say "Nikonites" on it, i would still put it on my Fuji ;)

I'm interested in lighting (softboxes, flashes, etc). I've only got one off camera flash, and looking at getting some backgrounds and softboxes so that I could maybe begin to do some corporate headshots. Can't make my mind up on exactly what to get.

Well, it would be me selling to members. Not the companies directly. Unfortunately manufacturers (usually) only sell to distributors, and even if it was a group buy type of setup it would have to be a rare product that isn't available anywhere else and a lot of people want & would have to put money down on. Even then the buy would be from a distributor/wholesaler.

I know Fro did this. I'm not sure how many he had to purchase, but I bet it was a lot. The margins on the Nikon strap would probably be minimal since I'd have to get them from Nikon directly.

If anything I would start with straps. Bags may have the same problem as consumers do. That and they take up a lot of room.

I'm currently looking at Flashes and some related accessories that are not Nikon, again because of cost. I've found some pretty good alternatives so far.

Hats and Tees then? Would be a good and inexpensive start. Could try a collective design/vote, slogan, etc.

Sorry John I am pretty much good to go with what I have/need. However, as a NIMH battery addict, I would suggest Eneloop rechargeable batteries.

Would you be able to ship outside the US?

Since I am getting a bigger camera, I NEED a new bag, and I want a new strap, and I will want at least one spare battery, and new memory cards..... the list goes on and on :)

ebay may be hard to beat , especially getting product out of hong kong , i but 95% off ebay and 80% of that is from hong kong purely on price and ive never had a problem

good luck buy you would have to beat those prices

Actually I sold a house today and have a little spare cash. I was thinking what in the line of camera gear would I want. I love my D7100 and the D7000 is great for backup. I have the 11-16, 18-140, 40mm macro and the 70-300. For what I shoot that pretty much fills the bill. Can't think of anything I really want right now. That is a nice feeling. I my splurge and max out my memory from 24GB to 32GB
