Thanks for sharing... that sounds really cool. 3D and focusing after the fact... I need my coffee before I can wrap my head around that this early.

A cup of good ole Vitamin C (caffeine) will do the trick....and yes STEVE, the camera is not too expensive, but we've got to realize they are trying to break into a dificult market.

I think in a few years once the technology gets cheaper it will be the norm... Will my 18-55mm DX lens work on that?? lol

But then... WHY touch screen? There's nothing wrong with buttons and dials, not everything has to change does it? Touch screen in winter is a pain.

Yes and the other thing that stood out to me is that they are trying to separate themselves by not listing the number of MP's. How the heck do you compare vs. the other brands?

Very true, unless it doesn't "record" light using pixels? I don't know... Makes you also wonder what equivalent of 35mm it is - Full frame?

For professionals? lol.

I never got on board with their trendy first offering. I'm not one that captivated by the ability to 'alter' the image in that way once it's taken. At this price point it's a toy for trendy techies and nothing more.

Looks like someone is posting images in the forum they did not take themselves.... ;)

I think it's an interesting camera, and an interesting direction that things are going, but yes its very much a gadget rather than tool at this point.

I agree with you Steve....I think it's more of a toy for the rich to be able to say, Look how cool this camera is. To me, with a lack of lenses and like you mentioned, not understanding completely whether it is a full frame or not, I'd pass on this one.

I for one am very impressed by what Lytros is able to offer to the public. Using light field and allowing the image to become adjustable and modify focal points at later dates is impressive to say the least. While most would figure that this would be a toy, imagine you not getting the shot the first few times. This captures the image and you are able to refocus afterwards. Yes this could be a tool that a techie or anyone interested in photography should be able to appreciate.

Wow. This is really interesting. It would be nice to get some technical data, but as it's so new, I'd guess they want to get a head start on the market. Brilliant idea. It suggests one "shot" capturing all available light at that moment, can enable the creative photographer to produce the precise photo they're looking for.... near focus, far focus, whatever. It really is a very logical idea I think.
