Fingerless Gloves

Anybody out there use them for taking photos outdoors? Are they helpful and manageable and do you have a source?

I think I got everything else covered but my fingers get so cold I'm afraid they'll freeze to the tripod! Don't want to be just a "fair-weather photographer"

Best Regards

Helene, you can find what you want at most sportsman's clothing suppliers. They are called fold back gloves or glovemitts. They are regular gloves with the fingers cut off and a mitten fold over. When you need your fingers free you just pull off the mitten cover and fold it back over the top of the glove. If you Google the word glovemitts and you will get any number of different sources.

Right now, as I type this, it's -16C outside. Now THAT'S chilly around the edges, folks! :)

Hey Jack...that's way too cold!!! That's not even cold, that's frigid!!! Hey it was hovering around 60F here yesterday. Not too bad for December 31st. Happy New Year!

Jack, true I live in Atlanta but ...lol... will do you one better than Calgary Alberta, I will be making a trip this spring to the Arctic Circle in Alaska. Even in the spring up there it's frigid :(. I'll let you know just how frigid when I get back. In the mean time I will be buying a pair of heavy duty glovemitts so I can do some shooting up there.

Jack, I may live in Florida currently, but my experience with (and recommendation of) the Footjoy WinterSof gloves comes from shooting the Winter Olympics in Calgary & SLC, and countless NFL games in Philly, NJ, Green Bay, Chicago, Foxborough, etc. in November, December & January.

True enough though, most people in FL have no idea of what "cold" really is.
