Anybody out there use a GPS device with their nikon? If so, what would you recommend, if any, are they a good idea, or are they more trouble than they're worth?

Best Regards

I have not used one but it would seem to have two uses. First for those that want take a series of pictures from the exact same spot for records or whatever. Second for geewizz this is where I took z picture. For me I don't see a benefit. I would rather have a separate GPS. I can record my own coordinates and have a unit that will work off camera as well.

I use the Nikon GPS unit and have about 8,000 photos with coordinates since I started using it. I use Aperture 3, "Places" as the photo manager. All I have to do is highlight a photo or several photos and click on places and it opens Google maps with pins in place for each shot. I find it much easier to have the GPS unit add the coordinates at the time the photo is shot than to try and add them latter. This is a benefit because when you have thousands of photos, like I do, from all around the country with multiple visits to some locations, knowing where each photo was taken is a big help in planning future trips and shooting secessions.
