2016 Worldwide Photowalk Anyone?

Met a few fellow Nikonites a couple years back as a part of the Kelby Worldwide Photowalks. There's nothing exciting, it seems, in my area this year, but they're doing one in Princeton again and considering it's been 3 years since I've shot there I'd consider doing it again.

It's on Saturday, October 1. The Princeton walk is from 10-12PM. There's one in Philly but the 6:30AM start means I'm either finding a place to stay in town or leaving my house just after 4:30AM to get there. But my arm could be twisted.

I've never done one before and there are actually two in my area: one in Oceanside and one in downtown Coronado; some pretty choice locations. I could make them both, actually, with a little help from the Traffic Gods, and just make a full day of it...

Tempting.

I am hosting one again in downtown Erie, PA. I have found them most interesting and informative as I give them a tour of the old buildings, local history (we used that have public rest rooms in our park but they burried them in the late 60's) we take them to the local churches in the downtown area outside and sometime inside if we get invited.
We did one at sunrise Photowalks and caught this fellow waiting for the fishermen on the dock.

I try to go every year but to a different location. I (and a few others) are road tripping to Cape May.

I wondering if the Princeton walk is being done by the same woman. Doesn't that start around the same place?

For those that Live in Erie PA and those that may come:

I will be giving away an ExpoDisk 2.0 after the Photowalk this is about 50$ item for DSLR those that have an interchangeable lenses. I had previously won this item in a photo contest but really never felt the need to use it as I have other products that I use. So if you have not signed up at the Kelby Photowalk site do so now!

The walk will be a little different than past walk with more historical buildings and a did you know the fellow that laid out the park and street, that a President was at a mansion in downtown Erie, and who was one of the richest man/family that reside in downtown. So a walk and a history lesson combined.

It does look like we will have Erie Weather on Saturday at 10 AM. We will have lunch at Molly’s dutch treat for those that are interested!

Rainy, drizzly day along the U.S. east coast. Laurie and I met up with a few friends in Cape May, NJ. Not too much photography wise but we did run into a street Octoberfest and made the best of it.

My wife's favorite shot that she captured with her Nikon 1 J5:

My favorite that I captured with my Fuji X-T2:

Got a phone call from one of the walkers an hour before the walk, "Its raining!!, and I am not sure if I'll come" I responded "that it's suppose to lighten up by 10AM and that I have to be there as leader in case someone does show up!" Well the predictions were correct it lighten up to partially cloudy with beautiful blue skies and the ones that called did come! Now you ask where are my images...I went analog with both the Nikon FM and the Bronica ETRs (120/220 size). When the group realize what I was shooting they ask if they could look in the viewfinder. The one that impressed them in size was the Bronica!
Anyway a couple of them was from my class on Basic DSLR and since it was partially cloudy with blue skies it was excellent in showing how to read the light; when taking a back lit subject, a subject that the brightness of the sky and subject was almost equal. It slowed them down and actually use what I taught them. The one fellow understood the triangle (aperture, shutter and ISO) that I showed in class.
I only go for the fun and the camaraderie of the walk.
If you are familiar with Erie PA did did part of the "Millionaire's ROW" on west 6th street and continued on our normal walk. You always learn something new in your own backyard.

Someone was shooting film at our walk too. She loved the lens she was using too much to give it up. I showed her focus peaking on the X-T2 and explained how she could use an adapter and manual focus. She reached out this morning for more info on the X-T2.

Anyone know where we can view the leader submissions for the photowalk? This Viewbug site hosting the images is a pain in the rear.
