Sony will “terminate the development and manufacturing of high-functionality camera modules for external sale” – mirrorlessrumors

Temporarily I can see that happen until capacity gets back to normal. Long term, that is a huge chunk of their sensor business they would cut off for no good reason.

I'm certainly no expert on the topic but to my (admittedly limited knowledge), I think the more likely explanation is the the camera modules Sony is referring to are ones used in cell-phone cameras, security cameras, microscopy applications, robotic QC cameras and other such industrial applications; not the DSLR sensors related to our hobby.
