Thank you for keeping me free!!

Your service and sacrifice is greatly appreciated!!!

Amen to that! I live near a military base and see people in uniform all the time when I am out and about and try and go up to as many as I can and tell them thanks and that I appreciate them for their service and I do this all year long. Thanks to all that have served!!!

I have a family member who served in the National Guard, and he doesn't think much of himself as a "veteran". I have a friend that served on SEAL Team 4 and he didn't think of himself as "successful" when he compared himself to people at our highschool reunion. I believe that both men are very, very, wrong. Not all soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines, served on the front lines during battle. Just the same, all members of the armed services have sacrificed to provide security for the rest of us. From the Quartermaster and clerk, to the Special Operations Groups. As for my friend, the SEAL, I believe he was the most successful alum to come from my highschool. It was just his humble nature that made him feel less. THANK YOU to all that served, whether it was/is behind a desk, or behind a rifle. I appreciate all that you have given.

Thanks. United States Army (Infantry). 1970-1972. They taught me two things. How to Walk and how to shoot (without the camera).

Thank you and I extend the same to all my fellow veterans as we all at times cover each others back. Additionally, thank you to the civilian population that supports the military. And finally, my biggest thank you goes to the families of deployed military members. I have always felt as though my family has carried a far heavier load than myself when all you can do is worry.

You're welcome, from a Navy (82-88) and National Guard(93-94) vet. Hardest job I ever had wasn't the military - it was working for a draft dodger. Made our relationship interesting, to say the least. :)

The huge irony in what is now called Veteran's Day comes from the fact that it was initially celebrated to mark the end of "The War to End All Wars". I'm sure there isn't a veteran alive who wouldn't happily give up all the parades, tributes, and recognition if only that war truly was the end of war. We humans have a long, long way to go. Let's hope we don't ruin the planet before we wake up to our greater destiny.

Whatever that may be. :)

I have never served, but have nothing but respect for our veterans, and the young men and women who are currently serving in our military.
I salute all of you!

Kevin, you're indeed fortunate to still have him, as so many who served in that war are gone. Give him a hug every chance you get to.
