May seam a daft question but i had to attempt a rescue this morning,a Greylag had fishing line round one leg over its back and round the other leg,it was in the situation where it could not put both feet down at once the line would pull the other leg up,got a lot of line off it and the legs where separate but it still had line around each leg when it escaped from me.
In my youth i worked on Duck and Chicken farms,if we where sorting through for culling we used to cross there wings and they would stay where we put then until we where ready,i didnt want to cross this guys wings without knowing if it was safe to do it,if i had he wouldn't have escaped.

Nice try on the rescue. Hopefully you got enough of the line off so it can survive without catching the line on something else. Do you carry a pocket knife or a little scissors?

We call those Swiss Army knives here.:D So, did you get the Goose free?

Its legs still had line around them but not tied together,in the UK a multi tool and swiss army knifes are different things

That's the way I refer to them too. Multitool (Leatherman) stays with me 99% of the time as well as two pocket knives 100% of the time (Not Swiss Army however). I feel naked without the knives. Daily carry are larger knives, but Sunday smaller sized for church. Why two knives, you may ask. One for my personal use and the other to let someone else use because not many carry their own anymore (something I don't understand having grown up with them.) For me a knife is as important to have as underwear. Ha!!

We have odd laws about carrying knives in the UK. My understanding is we can carry a knife that doesn't lock and has a blade less than 3 inches in length. I have a couple that qualify that I carry sometimes. You can carry bigger locking knives but you must have a legitimate use for it at the time. I always carry a lock knife at work and when I'm shooting. I have a multitool that I could put into my camera bag but it is a cheap and nasty one.

Not sure about the wings Mike.
