I am considering upgrading my current office chair which is a cheap one to a more comfortable one.

What is everyone else using and what do they like and dislike about it.

It do IT for a living, so I end up in a chair for extended periods. I spent a bit and a got a chair that is for Big/Tall people (which means it can handle more weight and is designed to last longer, but costs a bit more).

I got this chair:
Realspace Endsleigh Executive Big Tall Bonded Leather Chair ChromeEspresso by Office Depot & OfficeMax
(I got the one in black).

EXTREMELY comfortable. I have had a lot of office chairs over the years, and this is by far the best and most comfortable chair that I have owned. But at $320USD, it is not cheap. (Worth every cent, in my opinion).

Thanks for that, I dont do it for a living but can spend alot of time in a chair. My work ones are $1000AUD each which is too much for me so around $400-$500 would be ideal. Want to move away from leather though as I live in a hot humid climate and you tend to stick to leather.

I prefer office chairs with both a mesh seating area and back. The seating area doesn't wear out like an upholstered cushion (creating pressure points that are uncomfortable), and they are cool in Summer.

Was just looking at some mesh chairs, they could be the way to go. Wonder how comfortable they would be.

I'm not the only one! Everyone thinks I'm crazy for not liking leather furniture or car seats because of the stickiness.

Other than that, I have no recommendations on a chair haha

The price is out of my range lol but yes sounds good.

I thought you said 4-5 hundred would be ideal. These Herman Miller chairs are amazing and will last forever. I know they're pricey, but you can find deals, and order them only with the features you want. Your butt will thank you.

If you do go Office Max/Depot for a cheaper one, make sure the mesh seat is well made as you usually can't order replacement parts for them down the road (like you can with the Miller chairs).

for me a chair needs arms, can tilt back when i put my feet up and have a fabric cover. Sitting in a chair for me is the only way to chose. Ask you boss if you can borrow your work chair for your convalescence. :)

We have 2 Herman Miller Aeron chairs in our home office and I can't recommend them highly enough. If even a refurbished one is out of your price range then hunt around for one to repair yourself. They're easy to work on and there's plenty of help online.

Alternatively look for Steelcase's Leap Chair which is cheaper. I've never sat in one but they have a good reputation.

I have a Human Scale chair - comfiest chair I've ever had :)
Expensive though - they used to retail around £900 about 8 years ago

Looks like my work will provide me an office chair as I will be doing some work from home, the bad news is because I am no longer doing shift work for a period of time I lose my shift allowance which is around $1200 per month...

I have one by the same company. Didn't spend quite as much. But wow such a comfortable chair and it has held up to the abuse of my 390lb ass leaning back in it for like 3 or 4 years now and still as solid as the day I put it together!
