Search function leaves a lot to be desired.

I typed in "still life" and this is what it came back with.

I had not tried that before but it really works pretty good. I am going to try a few other searches with it tomorrow to test it out if it works like Thai I will post a sticky about it

Did you try using the Advanced Search on the top right Pete? If not, try it. Make sure you click on Search Titles Only, then add your subject. Still Life Photography shows up first for me.

vBulletin's (the software this site and many other forums run) built-in search is weak. Going to Google or other external search engine with something like: site:nikonites.com search term is far more likely to produce useful results.

We used to have a google search button here for awhile that jdeg was trying out.
With that in mind I went here and stumbled around:

https://support.google.com/customsearch/answer/2630963

I came up with this link below and dragged it to my toolbar to create a button. It seems to work and brings me to a google search page limited to Nikonites when I click my toolbar button:

https://cse.google.com/cse/publicurl?cx=013772026086163957191:tn81j0nsoz8

It says this is a public link, but it appears to be MY public link. I now see a google custom search control page where I can edit how the link behaves. So if it works and anyone has an interest, they should create their own custom search rather than using the link I posted because apparently I can redirect it anywhere.:devilish:

I prefer using the advanced search to find posts rather than threads because usually I have a specific post in mind I'm trying to find, and if I know who wrote the original post, I can filter the results even further.
