Wife and I in the news - and not being arrested :)

The wife and I have been teaching the U.S. Constitution for a number of years. This year the local news decided to cover it.

Fifth-graders study U.S. Constitution in mock hearings

Good stuff here.

Seems local schools in our area are teaching a bastardized version in an attempt to re-write history. Sad.

Wait a minute! You mean we still HAVE a constitution?

I thought we lost that six years ago!

We still have one... courts (and the executive branch) tend to use it more as a 'guideline' these days as opposed to the defining parameters of the Republic.

Perhaps they echo Captain Barbossa's famous words, "It's more loose guidelines than hard and fast rules..."

That is great. I hope your students will end up with a better grasp of that document than most of our elected officials seem to have. Aside from the Magna Carta, few documents in all of recorded history define the obligations and privileges of self government than our Constitution. Hail the Republic!
