As I am holiday for nearly 3 weeks over Christmas/new year, thought I would do a little diy, and make a bird table.

I've got loads of, off cut bits of wood in the shed, Like 2 jobs in one, feed the birds, and lets me get some good photo's without leaving the house.

Looking to make something like this.

Looks like a great little project! I like woodworking too, but often lack the time. I also lack a jointer and planer, so am somewhat limited in what I can do. Nonetheless, it's fun to build things that are just was you wish them to be in function and size. Some time ago I built this shelf to house network gear, a printer and books, adding a back with cable access holes where needed.

Just needs another coat of paint.

Just need to find a good place in the garden for it, and get some branches to put on it, to get the birds near the food.

Very impressive puts my effort to shame.

I started a similar project last year with left over bits of wood in the garage. I made two "prototypes" not for public viewing.
In the end I hung a feeder off the legs of the table and screwed some branches lower down. It worked great. My wife made me take it away early spring to encourage me to make a better one.

Make sure its not too far away from your window or use a good tele lens as the birds around here are tiny.

I took this picture with the 70-300mm lens, which was only at 195mm, and It was taken from the dining room window, so at 300mm should get some close ups photos (fingers crossed)
