My latest puzzle

I haven't done a puzzle in years and I can tell you I was seriously rusty. Previously, I cut 12 piece puzzles out of standard size postage stamps, put them in match boxes and gave them away as gifts. Tonight it was hard enough to cut a puzzle piece the size of a postage stamp LOL. I guess that old adage of if you don't use it you lose it. While I didn't completely lose it... it wasn't as easy as it used to be, but it was still fun.

But that's not the story that goes with this puzzle I came here to share. This photo was taken somewhere around 1935-36. The little boy was my father-in-law. Moab Ladies father that passed a few months ago. When the daughters were cleaning up the house there was this photo that the one sibling wanted and she packed it with her stuff to take back home with her. When the sibling wasn't looking, my wife stole the picture. Yup, she did - she stole it and the sister never knew what happened to it. While I might normally accuse my wife of being evil... she had plans for this picture. First off, it was in horrible condition. The lower right corner was missing and then kind of taped all together so that more of the photo wouldn't flake away. Throughout the rest of the photo there were pieces of the image missing that had come off for some reason unknown to us. And finally, discoloration, creases from being folded, and someone had written a name on the photo in pen (no idea who the person was).

Step one of my wife's plan - She had me photoshop rebuild the photo and restore it to its original ugly self. I say ugly self because the photo was done in sepia with this like air brushed rosy coloring added after the fact. Maybe it was the thing in 1935, but regardless of the century it's still ugly. However, my task was to put it back to original so it still has the ugly rosy cheeks LOL.

Step two - I had a canvas print done stretched over a wood frame. The canvas just looks right for this old photo as oppose to the look it would have on modern paper.

Step three - A Christmas present. Years ago I had made Moab Ladies father a Christmas present of a family photo put into a custom made box with a puzzle piece handle to open the box. Moab Ladies sister saw the gift and loved it, but the puzzle went back to us as I had made it. So... the plan is to remove the original puzzle and replace it with this one.

Step four Christmas day - The sibling will have these two presents from us labelled one and two. First being the puzzle for her to assemble. Two being the canvas wrap of this photo two open after present one is complete.

All-in-all this will really make her sisters Christmas. So with all that hot air out of me... here is the puzzle.

Neat idea. Even better the story.

I remember the old painted looking photos. Almost like they were trying to colorize a black and white and they came out like and over-processed JPEG.
