Nikon's message to millenials, "Drop those smart phones!"

I can't say the commercial is terribly sexy or exciting. Maybe it's intended for those in the new generation that are just like those of the old. ;)

After every morning drive to work, I wish a campaign like "I am generation *understands safety is more important than the OMG 2 MOAR LIKEZ ON DA FACEBOOK*" would work. LOL

I'm surprised that of the zillion fantastic things you can do with a cam, they managed to make an empty and boring commercial.

It just didn't do anything to me now so I can only wonder how hard a sixteen year old would've yawned.

Yeah, where was Ashton Kutcher? (can't tell ya if that's spelled right, not a fan)

Where's the PARTY and the laughing and...

I should have gone into marketing.

I would think most teenagers will be happy with there mobile phone camera, and not really bother with the advert

its only when they get a little older, they appreciate quality :)

I think those are some very well constructed, and really, rather savvy ads. Nikon has definitely identified a target demographic is are appealing to it in a fashion that I think will be heard. Working in the visual arts department as I do, I think it safe to say I see more than an average number of young people who want to express themselves artistically and I've seen the light go on when they realize photography, as opposed to taking pictures, is a "thing". That, I think, is the message Nikon is wanting to get across. They want to plant the seed you can do more, and stand out from the digital noise, with Nikon.

16 year-olds are not the target demographic since they typically don't have the disposable income to buy a lot of high-end electronics. 20/30-Somethings do however.

Having kids AND a disposible income? tell me how please?

That's the Point & Shoot market.

....

Nah... with THOSE parents, it's whatever the kids ask for. That's why so many of 'em barely old enough to drive are running around in cars that cost more than my 1st house, and there are more of those kids than I would have ever imagined possible. *I* sure haven't figured out how to get there!

Point in fact, saw a few kids that didn't look a day over 14 pull into a parking lot the other day... Audi R8, Nissan GTR, FULL accessorized Jeep Rubicon, Ford Raptor and Roush edition Mustang. I'd target those kids with any product I could, since they obviously get what they want. :)

Really nice commercials that will have little impact. A full size DSLR is not a passing thought and it doesn't fit in a pocket. Nikon should focus on gaining market share through new and innovative products, not an old product for a new generation. Square peg in a round hole, go visit an Apple store Nikon; you might learn something about the next generation. Look at what they do with their time, they communicate nonstop and play with apps; you won't find many changing lenses, anywhere.
