Just Cloud

Does anyone use Just Cloud as a backup/storage solution?

I have a 1GB account with them which I haven't activated - given to me for hosting some sites with Hostgator (that's an affiliate link - hope I haven't contravened the rules here)

I am looking for some off site storage/backup facility but need to know 2 things:
How much space is enough - like is 1GB plenty or not so much?
Are they reliable?

Not sure why I am so fussy. Anything is better than nothing but I don't want to transfer files now only to have to redo it all over again in 6 months time.

Not knowing anything about your settings, but a D5100 chucking out jpg pictures on full settings is ~4MB per image.
That's ~250 pictures before your 1GB of storage is gone!

Unless you're super specific in what gets backed up, that's 'nothing' in storage terms.

You use Windows, right? Just right click on your My Pictures folder and choose Properties. That will give you the total size. It might take a minute or so to calculate. You can do the same for My Documents if you are interested in backing that up too.

My 15 years of pictures is 120 GB, most of them are jpg. My 2014 folder is all raw and is 40 GB and I really haven't made time for much shooting this year. So 1 GB is nothing.

Also consider your upload speed on your internet service. Some are very slow at uploading. You might need to leave your computer on every night if you have a slow upload connection. You might as well try your free account just to see how it works.

I get nagged to activate my Just Cloud account too, but between Dropbox, iCould, Google, etc ... I've already got too many cloud storage options to use a whole 1GB provided by my hosting provider. Nah, I'm passing on them for now.
