Will be going there next month...wife got a promotion so her company is flying us there for a celebration. Will be there about 4 days or so, most likely staying downtown. Looking for some places to take some pictures. I know I want to try and get some pics of Union Station, but not sure what else is there that might make for some interesting pictures.

Does anyone live in the area or have you been there before and can make some suggestions?

Thanks

I grew up in Kansas City, so I have a few ideas but what side of the river are you on? If you're west of the river you're in Kansas City, Kansas but most likely you'll be east of the river in Kansas City, Missouri.

KCMO is known for its numerous fountains which can make for some nice photos. Other things to check out, if you have time, would be Old Wesport, located on Westport Road and The Country Club Plaza located on Broadway. There's also the Nelson-Atkins (art) museum and the KCMO Zoo which is not half bad. If you're into BBQ, KC Masterpiece is some of the best.

Her company is actually in Overland Park, KS....we will be staying in downtown Kansas City I'm sure, probably Mo side.

Might even end up driving around to see different areas, because we think she might get moved there within the year.

OMG... Overland Park is my home town, my mom still lives in OP as a matter of fact.

Okay, not much, really, to see in OP; it's mainly suburban sprawl. Downtown KCK or KCMO will be far more photogenic, in my opinion. Kansas is just not real purty as I recall (it's been a while since I was back). Head west and you'll hit small some towns (Gardner, Bonner Springs, Morse) that could, possibly, yield some interesting shots but that would be a total crap-shoot. Maybe Clinton Lake...

Kansas. There's a reason I left. Know what I mean, Vern?

As Horoscope Fish stated, Union Station area is pretty nice. You have the WWI Museum, Crown Center, Rail station and a few other 'neat little places' all within walking distances.

You also have a mix of 'Older' city and 'New' city structures that will allow a variation to any outdoor shots you may want to take/look at.

That and great BBQ.
