Friday i sent out my d600 from syracuse ny to Melville ny. It is supposed to be delivered Tuesday. Tracking says it is in Illinois this morning???? Could that be right? Wishing i hadn't checked now!

That does not sound right. From Syracuse to Melville shouldn't be more than a 5 hour drive. I have no idea why it would be in Illinois .
You might want to call and check.

There is no way this lens will make it's destination by the morning.

I even get mad the same company I work for. We have new carriers come in and brag that the job is easy. That's because they don't handle the work like a career person. They run, miss deliver, and do things half ass. I just got back today and the non career that carried my route was putting wrong mail in the boxes even when they are marked with names. Sorry for jumping in Rick!

I mailed my D600 Thursday, UPS sent it 250 miles west, to fly it to NJ. It got moved another 100 miles Saturday. There it sat and will move the last 1 hour to its destination tomorrow. Go figure, cause I can't. Ed

The wife is a UPS driver and Syracuse is a main hub for flights in and out. Not unheard of for your package to travel 3 times as far as it should. Trust me their system is as screwy as USPS. If I mail a letter out that may go to my neighbor. It will travel an hour away first before it gets delivered down the street.

So true. When I first started, we would sort local mail in the office to be delivered next day. Now, it goes 100 miles North then back.

UPS works through hubs like most shipping companies, so they can go in the wrong direction first. Generally all packages from a particular depot will go to the same hub to start, from there to another hub, and from there to the local depot for delivery.

I'm hoping its just the hub idea. Ive seen that but not like this. It actually went from syracuse to Massachusetts to Illinois. It is now showing departure scan so hopefully it will be in NY by morning.

Reminds me of basic training. To get me to Missouri from ny i flew to north Carolina and Texas. Must have saved the army 10 cents :)

Or corporate travel. I had to fly from Newark to Zurich back in 2001 and American Airlines came in at $350 cheaper ($150 beyond the discretionary difference on International travel), so I had to fly by way of Dallas. The shame of it was, I booked my tickets in late August for an early October trip and after 9/11 every carrier was at around $400 round trip. Going out wasn't too bad - I had a complete row on a brand new 757 to myself (the seats weren't worn out yet). On the way back there were more people and the seats had been "used". My ass was done before I saw land. To make things worse, I flew directly over NYC and could see Newark airport. Had it not been so close to the tragedy I would have asked for a parachute.

Update- I've been off line a few days due to the fact that I took my phone with me to the water safari and it did not come out alive (another story). The camera made it on time Tuesday and my package arrived from Nikon today! We came back a day early to receive it. I'm very pleased to have all of this behind me and feel like for the first time I can really enjoy it without second guessing everything.

what did the package say repair wise? did they add a nice apology letter you can frame and be proud of? hahahaha
I think theyre taking repairs very seriously this time. many people who sent theirs in many times before they did it thoroughly but after the fiasco they dont want to messa round.

I think they have a more defined process now as opposed to before the last advisory. It seems they are handling everything faster and with purpose from what I've read of others experiences.
