Okay folks, has it been a year already? Last year we had a few different groups of people get together and participate. I've gone to 5 of the last 6. It is a great way to meet local photographers and spread the Nikonites word (I wear my hat!). I try to go to a different place each year. Highly recommended!!!

I think we need to talk Jake or his brother into being one of the Leaders at a cool place!

Don't know that I can talk him into leading, but I'll hopefully be able to talk him into participating since he'll be done with the Ledger job and (hopefully) working a M-F gig.

I was originally concerned that this might fall when I'll be in FL visiting family, but I'll be home the Monday before. That said, that Saturday I have plans with the Mrs. for Bethlehem, PA Oktoberfest. With that in mind, I'm thinking about possibly putting in a "walk" for the event. Technically it would not be a walk as much as a wander since the event is all held within the confines of the Artsquest facility, which is smack in the middle of the old Bethlehem Steel facility where I recently attended Bethlehem Musikfest...

...so there will be opportunities to shoot everything from concerts to architecture to whacky Oktoberfest events to street/people. I truly don't want to have to "lead" something, and my wife isn't crazy about the idea of me having to corral people for 2 hours, but I figure it's an opportunity to get lazy and simply get everyone together in the beginning, send 'em out shooting, and then meeting for beers, food and general hanging out afterwards.

So, for anyone in the NJ/PA area, do you think this might be a decent event to plan this around? It used to be a paid event, but this year it's free. I'm kinda hoping someone else thinks the same way and puts the event in. I may even mention it to the folks at Artsquest since they are always doing something with photography and maybe one of their folks could run it?

The wheels are turning.

@RocketCowboy I see that and I dont have to work that day. Just need to figure out which one I would prefer. I might lean towards Ft.Worth, not sure about Plano or Dallas. Used to work in Downtown and depending the chosen path I might just Ft.Worth. They are meeting in the Stockyards and there is so much in that area that its kind of overwhelming. Last time I was there I had the family and everyone wanted to go their own way, so I just took off for a bit on my own. Although I could do this on my own, so need to think about it.

Still toying with the idea of being a leader in name only for Oktoberfest in Bethlehem, PA. There's literally nothing in the area, so I'd be blunt and let folks know, "This isn't a walk, it's merely a chance to participate and possibly run into other people with cameras", but I'm not sure if that's truly in the spirit of the event.

Good call. The Dallas event is just street photography in West End, so I'm going to look at the other options. Ft Worth Stockyards does sound like an area with excellent options!
