Yesterday Verizon announced that FiOS customers will receive upload speeds that match download speeds. This upgrade is for everyone, both existing customers and new subscribers.

I used to pay for 75 Mbps up / 35 Mbps down. I requested the match and received the update within 5 minutes!! Here is the corresponding speedtest results. Awesome!!

Not available where I live. Looks like twice the download speed for about the same price I pay for Comcast. I've never heard of upload speeds that fast. That's great!

I miss my verizon FiOS service since moving into AT&T Uverse territory. Not even the same ballpark or the same sport.

@Eduard , Was there anything specific to click on or any confirmation that you got the upgrade besides the actual result? I followed the links yesterday to see if I was eligible. It guided me into joining Rewards+. Once I joined and entered the rewards screens, there was no further mention of the speed upgrade. Nothing to click on nor any mention at all of speed upgrade. My account still shows 50/20.

I chatted online today with verizon. Useless. Eventually the guy said it might take up to 24 hours and blew me off. He kept avoiding and never answered the question of "Do I need to click on something or does this upgrade come to me automatically just by joining Rewards?"

@nickt I received an email (see below) within about 5 minutes of joining Rewards+. I read somewhere that they may be rolling it out regionally.

Thanks. I didn't get that email. I suspect it is not ready yet even though they are advertising it today on My Verizon page. Their first line reps never seem to know any details about anything.
I can wait. Thanks for explaining the process.

btw, Ed - I tried this and it ended up that after a month I would be paying $10 more a month for a year even though I'm 10 months into a 2 year contract.
