My awesome wife and I are going to Hawaii at the end of the month. Did I say how awesome she is? She just agreed to spend one of our days on an all-day photo tour. She really is awesome (but don't tell her so it doesn't go to her head). Anyway, the reason I'm posting is to share the incredibly well thought out "things to think about for your tour" that was forwarded after confirmation. Good way to mentally prepare for any day of photography - especially with your awesome wife.

That's great and the tips are good reminders! Enjoy and don't forget to share! I think you should tell your wife how awesome she is. Hopefully there wasn't a trade-off. Some kind of purse or shoe shopping excursion?? These things never happen for free :).

You have a great wife Eduard.

I lived in the island of Oahu, Hawaii for a total of 7 years. If it was me going for the trip, I would bring the D800, medium range zoom, flash, and a travel tripod.

Shorts, shirts, sunglasses, flip flops, sun screen, visa card and you'll be good to go. :D

Yeah, she is a keeper. :triumphant: No trade-offs needed which is what really makes her awesome. :smug:

I'm a frequent contributor and consumer of TripAdvisor. (I have some funny stories about traveling around the world and occasionally wearing a hat with their logo.) I stumbled upon this photography tour company while looking for something else. They are the #1 ranked activity (as opposed to attractions) on O'ahu. They actually added another tour on a day we requested to accommodate our schedule without any special request. Their reviews are stellar so I'm pretty encouraged.

The D800 will certainly be with me! Now you know why I ordered the CPL and ND filters to fit the Tamron 24-70. :p The tour company also provides tripods and provided a local contact for lens, filter, etc. rentals if needed.

Good stuff. Are you going to sail out at sea? Bring some lens cleaner if that is the case. Should have plenty of stuff to do especially if you like the beach area.

We haven't scheduled anything but I'm sure we'll wander into something. Any recommendations?

We're getting ready to leave Oʻahu for Maui this morning. I will finish processing images when we get home next week-end, but I can highly recommend spending a day with Chris and Alex at Oʻahu Photography Tours. They took us to spots we would never have discovered on our own and were a blast. My wife totally enjoyed the day using her Canon P&S too. This is one of my early favorites:
