Where did you get that name!!!

A number of people use their real names here and that is nice but we do have quite a few that use screen names. That is OK too BUT I am always interested in how you picked that name. So do tell.

I will start. Some of the people who have been here a while remember me as "Tracsoft" that was the name of my software company Tracsoft Design. My main software was a OSHA compliance and reporting program for large corporations and Cities.

OK who is next?

A dram is a glass of whisky. A dram of good whisky to me is fantastic. Just a combination of the 2. Chose this as a username for whisky forums back in the day and didn't have enough imagination to come up with another one for this forum. Also used on my whisky blog as my username was well known to many whisky aficionado's by then.

Did we have a similar thread like this or am i dreaming??

Anyways, guess i fit the bill of needing to explain..
Lot of thought went into it.. have written a bit of it in my website in my about me page..

Light is White... which disperses into all the awesome colors..
with no white light, there are no colors..
with no light, there can be no photography..

soooooo.. WhiteLight Photography it was.. :)

Believe it or not, this was something that came to me in my sleep
some of best ideas i've had have been when i was asleep, including solutions to Integral math! (maybe i should go back to sleep :) )
i had pondered days on end for an 'apt' name.. @fotojack gave me the final go ahead ;)

Mine is simple. Nick name for William is Bill, and 16 was the day in August that I was born! I just couldn't come up with some cool sounding name when I first started hanging out on blackberry forums, and with everybody knowing me as Bill16 it seemed silly to bother changing it! Lol :D

Back in my youth when I was in the service I had times were I just barely made it back to the barracks under my own power. One night/morning the first sergent was in late taking care of another problem and saw me coming and said I remind him of a weeble, those little toy dolls that wobble, but won't fall down. Well, the following Monday in formation he announced that my new name is weebee, because I wobble, but don't fall down. And it stuck.

One of my favorite ones so far. When I was in the service they called me alphabet since they never could figure out how to pronounce my name.

Not so long ago, I was a bit of a big deal in the off-road rockcrawling Jeeping industry. Most notably, my ability to take a Jeep up over and through stupid rock terrain. One day I was explaining to some rockcrawlers of varying skills when one of the other drivers who knew me walked over when I had stepped out and told everyone, "You want to listen to him, he's that damn good. He's the Moab Man."

I heard this from another room and cracked up. When my buddy Mike walked in, the one who said this to everyone, I asked him if that wasn't a little bit of an overkill buildup for me to live up to. He told me nope, there is only one "Moab Man" etching in Moab and there is only one of me.

Over time the nickname grew and stuck. Eventually this led to business's wanting me to test and review their products because of the following the "Moab Man" had. Finally, I started writing professionally and started my own publication.

Today, my rockcrawling days are much less. Those that know me beg for stories around the campfires during Easter Jeep Safari telling of the glory days when I ran the trails leading Jeepers from around the country and world. For me, the funniest story is the fact my daughter grew up with Jeeping in her blood that for the longest time she though Easter was a Jeeping event. She understood the religious aspect, but also knew that Easter week is when Jeepers from around the world converge on Moab, UT.

The name has just stuck ever since. However, who knows, I may earn a new nickname as I have come out of mountain biking retirement to race another 24 hour solo mountain bike race. Although I think that new nickname may be "stupid" based on the fact everyone that knows me keeps asking, "are you stupid?"

Keep the stories coming. Love reading everyones' story.

I'm an avid old car fan and have a small collection. In addition to a 1965 Ford 289-4V Ranchero, I own 2 American Motors Corporation (AMC) Javelin AMX's (4 seater). I previously owned a 1969 AMC AMX, and plan on adding a 1970 AMX to my collection. Although not show quality now, they will be someday.

My user name is partly derived from Dick Teague's name, who IMO was AMC's greatest design chief. He is responsible for producing the only muscle cars AMC ever made, the Javelin, AMX and Javelin/AMX, hence I created the name teagueAMX in honor of Dick Teague.

FWIW.

my only 2 nick names were Dusty and Tooter. I decided to use my first name mark and my first initial of my last name f.
Tooter just didn't seem appropriate here. :) and I didn't want to use Dusty since I have a d600 :)
