If you didn't already know, the night that Adobe CC was announced, the entire Cloud Suite was cracked & put up for download... So much for anti-piracy..
Which will work for about a month until Adobe changes the hashes. Besides, you could always pirate Adobe products if that's what you wanted to do, so the
piracy-aspect is nothing new and I'm sure Adobe see's it as part of the cost of doing business. They could, if they wanted to, inflict far, far more painful DRM protections and frankly I'm surprised they haven't. I've had $40 video games that are locked down a thousand times harder than any Adobe product I've ever owned.
And while I know this isn't going to win me any Popularity Contests, who among us can't afford $20 a month? I certainly could never afford to buy legit licenses for Photoshop, Light Room, In Design, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro but my Creative Cloud membership lets me have all of those and whole lot more. Looked at from this perspective one could argue the new CC pricing structure makes all of Adobe's premier software far, far more affordable for a far wider audience. Yes, in the long term, Adobe stands to make more money this way and frankly I don't have a problem with that. If you build a better mouse trap I'll decide if the cost is fair because, like most people, I'm willing to pay more for a quality product.
Then too we have to remember Adobe is a corporation and corporations have a duty to maximize profits for shareholders. If you don't like how Adobe does business, or don't see the value in Adobe's pricing structure, you are free to invest in Corel or ACDSee or a host of other products that compete with Adobe. Adobe is some of the most popular software, but it's certainly not the only game in town.
All that being said my personal feelings about Adobe's CC delivery and pricing are rather mixed. I don't want this post to be interpreted as me not seeing both sides of the coin because I assure you I do. I'm just pointing out some the more practical considerations that I think are being overlooked in a flurry of emotion.
