Mother in Law passing...

I made a comment about leaving work for a "situation" earlier and did not want to muddle up the photo forums. "Off Topic" is perfect as this is exactly that...

We got the call at 4:00am this morning that my wife's mom passed away. Her brother called (they are in Texas). I went into work but my wife was flying down tomorrow so I came home to make all the arrangements for flight, transportation and to arrange our 1/3 payment for the expense. Hence my 365 was a little light today and likely will be the next day or 2, along with me not on the forum as much.

Mary Polk was 91 years old and had a good life. At 89, her health started to decline (dementia) but even at 90, was doing reasonably well. 3 weeks before my wife went down the end of April, they put her in a home as she was beyond caring for at her brothers. So effectively, the last year she was declining. She is now at peace, and no longer suffering. Her quality of life had diminished to where she could not even feed herself.

My wife is doing well, as we were expecting this... She fly's out tomorrow noon to Austin and will stay with her brother in San Marcos Texas. Funeral is likely Saturday and tentatively she is booked home on Tuesday.

I will be back to work tomorrow but no free time as my break will be getting her to the airport and the same with Monday/Tuesday as I will have to come home mid-day to take care of the dogs. Daileys will be there but could well be just snaps ...

Again, we are doing well, my wife is ok, knowing her mom is no longer suffering...

Thanks All,

Pat in NH

My condolences to you & your family.
Sure she's gone to a better place...

My Aunt (dad's sister) passed away the Sunday gone by..
She was diagnosed with a rare cancer just 2 weeks back, prior to which she was completely fit & healthy.

Apparently this cancer affects one in a million, so there is no research done on it or medicines available for the simple fact that there is no money to be made from patients of this condition.
i am glad that she moved on.. away from this horrid world

So sorry to hear that Rocky. Both my parents have passed and both in-laws are getting up in age. My father in law is suffering from dementia and my mother in law has health problems from A-Z. My wife does not want to think of their passing but I suspect it will be soon.

I am so sorry for your loss, Pat. it doesn't matter how prepared or ready you think you are, it still hurts.
Take care and please extend my condolences to your wife. Moms are special people . . . and the loss is always deeply felt, even though they are at peace.

Thank you everyone for the kind words, thoughts and prayers... I showed them to my wife before she left for work and she was moved by the sincere caring from people we have never met in person...

I will catch her up again tomorrow before she leaves...

Sorry to hear of your loss. My wife still dearly misses her mother (who lived with us for the last two years of her life) even though she passed seven years ago.
